These affect us all. Your website must become compliant and follow the NEW ICO COOKIE GUIDELINES:
1st August 2019
There has been a lot of uncertainty about how to deal with non-essential cookies on websites properly but very recently ICO have made a strong clear declaration that they intend to get tough about this.
Non-essential Cookies pop up from most third party add-ons like Google Analytics, Facebook, Twitter, Chat bots and so on, so pretty much all websites have some elements of non-essential cookies that have to be dealt with.
ICO have now produced some clear guidelines along with a working example. You can read what they have said here and see the working example.
Webboutiques are taking this seriously and we are going to be modifying our own site to produce a system that functions the same as the cookie system that is used on the ICO site.
It is a three step process which carries a one-off fee:
- The site has to be analysed to find out what non-essential cookies you have. We use a professional paid for service to do this.
- We then have to display the correct information matching each set of non-essential cookies along with enable/disable options like the ICO site in the slider that pops out.
At the time of writing most of our clients will have been quoted.
Please contact us if you would like us to take care of this.
Regardless if you have this implemented by us or someone else you have to follow the guidelines explained in the link above.
